BeeBao Misses Grandma and M&T

BeeBao and Grandma clicked from the start as if you've met her from the day you were born. Every morning when we wake up we visited Grandma in bed and you two would talk and laugh out loud. And that would continue throughout the day. Mommy and Daddy have not seen you laugh so much and so loud until Grandma came.

These past few days, has been a little more quiet. I could tell you were waiting to talk to Grandma, and play with cousin Michael and Timmy. Where did they go? We will see them at the end of August again and you will meet the rest of the family. Yeay!!! That's 2 months away. Too long...we miss them too.

BorisPop: its always tough, seeing our family leave, even when we lived closer to them. its even tougher now, having our son make such a major connection with his grandma and cousins, and poof, they are far away again. this only strengthens our commitment to visit our hometown and family more often, when the Bee is travel worthy. something tells me he is already anxious to visit them.

06/24/07

06/23/07

BorisPop: on the second day of Ma, Timmy, and Noodle's visit, we hit the ground running with the ritualistic places we take visitors to PDX.......Japanese garden, Rose garden, Multnomah falls, the Gorge, Bridge of the Gods, etc...........
Ma loved it all, and seemed to love the most, photo ops with her new grandson, in places of beauty. Timmy and Noodle were great in pitching in with the Bee, and Noodle soon discovered that Bee had a real jones for chewing on his fingers when he got them near his mouth. so Noodle just gave in, and offered up his fingertips whenever Bee gave him that look of "the need" to chew on Noodle. we then wrapped up the day with dinner at McKormick and Schmicks by the river, where Bee slept through the entire dinner......and even the drunk lady falling out of her chair, making way for the Bee's stroller. dinner was great, and we all talked, laughed, and gorged on every course.
a great time had by all........except, for a certain drunk lady.

Finally Grandma and Cousins Michael and Timmy visit! 06/22/07

More pix of Visits

BorisPop: along with Ma came two of our nephews, Timmy and Noodle (Michael)......i am very close to them, and was very happy to see them, as we had not since december. we used to spend a lot of time together, and not seeing them for this long brings the sharp reality that they are growing up. the two of them brought a new maturity, that was awesome, as it felt like 2 friends were visiting, and not just my 2 little nephews, that i usually have to keep from going at each other. they were GREAT with BeeBao, and really took him in, wanting to carry him, play with him, protect him. it really opened up a new door in how much i love these guys, and how proud i am to be their uncle. after hours, we found ourselves digressing in age again, playing xbox 360 and Wii till the roosters crowed.......so all youth is not lost.

Finally Grandma and Cousins Michael and Timmy visit! 06/20/07

BorisPop: this was a day that i have looked forward to everyday even before Bee was born. Ma is Bee's only grandmother, and very dear to Thuy, and myself alike. we were counting the days as it finally became a reality that she would be meeting him for the first time, and in fact, visiting our new place on this planet for the first time. the moment the two of them met at the airport was storybook. they were like two souls that have known each other for an eternity, that finally had seen each other again after a very long time. they were immediatly drawn to each other, and for the 5 days she visited, BeeBao was the center of her world, drawing conversations, smiles, and belly laughs that Thuy and i are still trying to get him to repeat.

MOMMY 35th BIRTHDAY-JUNE 12th

For Mom's birthday we went to one of Mommy favorite restaurants, The Charthouse. We had mango crab stack, salad, primerib, lobsters, and for dessert we had the amazing "LAVA CAKE"! Aaaaaaaaah yummy! It was the first time that Mommy was able to eat chocolate since she was pregnant. So it was a big treat! And BeeBao didn't get sick later after Mommy ate it. So yeay!!! And there was one of Mommy wishes already came true in her arms. Aawww...

from BorisPop:
who would have thought you could take a 3 month old boy to a Charthouse? this sort of thing probably would not fly at the same resturaunt in our home town, down way south.......but Portland loves it's kids, and it is rare to find a place of bizz that
does not welcome them with open arms. we got to celebrate Thuy's birthday in a new style, that being with our little boy. he insisted at being injected into the festivity, by clearly not wanting to sit idle in his car seat through dinner, so Thuy cut
my steak and loby into bit size pieces, and i shoveled with one hand, and held the Bee over my shoulder with the other, where he people watched, and was entertained by the group of coworkers dining together that were making faces at him, trying to get him to laugh. Bee is not a light little thing anymore, so while i chow down on this heavy meal, im am getting a work out on the left side. dinner was topped off with the Bee helping mom with the candle in the lava cake, as he stared into the flame, clearly wishing he was old enough to take a face plant right into the pile of chocolate.
happy 22nd, Mama. love you.

MiQ's FIRST FATHER'S DAY

A picture is worth a thousand words, but then again when MIQ gets a chance he will write you a book about today.

a note from daddy:
no book here, just a sentiment ....these photos represent 30 of the warmest minutes of my life. the Bee maybe too young to grasp the concept of father's day, and what it meant to me to recieve a card by him with his scribblings, but i can tell you (who ever reads this), that it marks a moment in my life where i have felt the real change in who i am as a person, and the things i care about. my friend Aaron (father of 3) told me to expect different emotional switches to click on, in having a child, and this was a big one. a warm, fuzzy, reality check of where i am in my life, with an incredible soulmate, and our happy little
bundle of Bee that we created. i never experienced this sort of moment, or connection with my father. not a sob story, i didnt know what it was supposed to feel like, as the feelings/experience just flat out, never existed. this brand new ritual, of laying in bed, son propped up next to me, wife m.c.ing the procedings of letting me open up little gifts from my little boy.......him giggling, an smiling througout........was a mushy mule kick to the heart, and added another new level to the
unbridled joy of daddydome.

thank you Thuy, and thank you Bee Bao, for all things new, and switch clicking.
undying love to you both.
