Legend Of Thee Blue Monkey

BorisPop: "Blue Monkey", in our home, has a sacred meaning, as it means only one thing, and is only spoken of when that special time is at hand......when BeeBao takes his bath. Pictures of the Bee tend to give the slight illusion that he is a big kid, and even though he is taller than the average child his age, he is.......still quite small. small enough to enjoy the magic of the Blue Monkey in the kitchen sink (in his Blue Bathtub, given to us by our friend Norman, of "planet of the apes letter to Boris" fame). Like most babies, he is not exactlly sure what this whole ritual of sitting in water is all about, so he is not always the most excited about the actual process........but, the lead in.........the Blue Monkey song, and his beloved Blue Monkey robe make the experience the rich one it always is. When he wears his Blue Monkey robe, he seems to transform into his alter ego of the Blue Monkey, and Blue Monkey is the happiest critter on earth. The walk to the sink becomes a parade type ritual, as he has to show mommy that he has become the Blue Monkey, and this sparks his excitement as mommy no longer refers to him as BeeBao......he is, the Blue Monkey, and he loves to laugh and make the Blue Monkey faces and gestures (arms waving, with an ear to ear grin, toungue sticking forward, nose crinkled up, eyes squinting with eyebrows agressively arched). This makes us, as a family, laugh our butts off, till the bathing of the Blue Monkey begins........then things get serious. I picked up his first rubber ducky the other day, and that has now seemed to carry a bit of the Monkey attitude into the tub, and making bathtime more interesting for him. But once he gets out, and back into his robe......all bets are off, and the Monkey returns till bedtime.

Reading the BeeBao chronicles is becoming one of my favorite past times....I am enjoying every experience as if I am right there with you. Most of all, I am stoked that you are getting so much out of these experiences, treasuring them and recognizing their significance as one of the best things that life has to offer...it truly puts a smile on my face! Go Blue Monkey! -Shannon
