Swift Watch

Every year in September many people go to Chapman Elementary School in Portland to watch thousand of birds flying in and out of the school chimney. The swifts gathered in the sky above the school and neighborhood about an hour before sunset. Then the birds circle above the sky and enter the chimney. This is as brief as I can describe it, but it was so amazing and beautiful to watch. We 3 had an great time. BeeBao was also entertained by many kids rolling down the hill and sliding on cardboards. This is just one of the many reasons why we love living in Portland. We can do so many things for free and live a very simple life. There are so many cool things we can't wait to experience with BeeBao. Our little family of 3.

BorisPop: if you would have told me just a few short years ago that watching thousands and thousands of little black birds swarming around and diving into an old smoke stack at an old school yard as the sun set, would be even remotely fun to do.......well...........
but.......it was. it was awesome, actually. and the Bee dug it too........even with his little brown eyes, he was tracking the cloud of birds flying over our heads, creating a liquid form that was actually, hipnotic, to just let yourself go, and abosorb. there were a ton of families, and all the kids were sliding down the grass hills on cardboard and sleds..........Bee watched this too, with real enthusiasm. im sure that this will be part of our ritual (the cardboard), wrapped up in this new ritual (the birds), in the years to come. as always, living here, it is very refreshing to see crowds of families, gathered around something so positive as an annual gathering of the these little dive bombing Swift birds..........where we come from, the only thing you see families swarm around are accidents (or someone getting a ticket.....flat tire.....etc......) on the freeway. sigh.........love the Swifts.
